A very busy show this week packed with lots of great information.

First, I tell the story of how I missed my turkey. Radio listeners will hear the entire tale of woe on this week’s show.

Then, the most interesting and informative conversation I’ve had about wild pigs in Michigan. Nick Ostrowski is an Arenac County farmer and avid hunter who kills several pigs each year. Nick has great advice on where to find them and why he thinks they need to be eradicated.

Mike Hecht is my next guest. Mike is good friends with American war here Travis Mills of Vassar, MI. Travis lost all his limbs from an IED while serving his third tour in Afghanistan. Mike has info on how to help Travis and his family….including a charity turkey hunt.

The hour wraps up with John Keith. John is putting together the definitive list of Michigan based outdoor companies. You can see that work in progress at his website….MichiganOutdoorProducts.wordpress.com.

Big water salmon and trout fishing is the topic in the second hour as Dr. Ken Merckel joins me. Ken is a member of the Thumb Chapter of the Michigan Steelheaders Association and the president of the Michigan Steelheaders Association.. He has great information of fishing the overlooked water off Michigan’s thumb and provides insight into the declining forage base in Lake Michigan and how that could affect anglers.

Annette Rummel of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau is my final guest of the hour. Annie talks about the walleye season opener and other outdoor recreational opportunities in Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties.

Old friend Tom Lounsbury is the featured guest in hour number three this week. Tom is an expert hunter and veteran outdoor writer. Our conversations are always lively and opinionated. This time we talk about guns, turkey hunting, kids in the outdoors…and anything else that springs to our old minds.

The show wraps up with expert wild game chef, and successful turkey hunter, Dixie Dave Minar. This week he has a very nice turkey recipe in honor of that popular springtime season.

Another very busy, and very entertaining Oudoor Magazine show. I hope you enjoy it.
