One of my favorite guests joins me for the third hour. Richard P. Smith is a noted outdoor writer and hunting expert. He has great advice on applying for a Michigan bear tag. The deadline for that is the end of the month. Richard also talks about bear numbers across the state and how that has affected the number of bear tags that will be issued. Big water salmon and trout fishing is the topic in the second hour as Dr. Ken Merckel joins me. Ken is a member of the Thumb Chapter of the Michigan Steelheaders Association and the president of the Michigan Steelheaders Association.. He has great information of fishing the overlooked water off Michigan’s thumb and provides insight into the declining forage base in Lake Michigan and how that could affect anglers.

Annette Rummel of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau is my final guest of the hour. Annie talks about the walleye season opener and other outdoor recreational opportunities in Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties.

Old friend Tom Lounsbury is the featured guest in hour number three this week. Tom is an expert hunter and veteran outdoor writer. Our conversations are always lively and opinionated.
