Rundown For The Last Show In January

We send the month out with a bang (no pun intended) this week on Outdoor Magazine radio with lots of talk about gun control.

First, Michigan Senator Phil Pavlov joins me to talk about proposed legislation to protect Michigan gun owners.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews announces plans for an Outdoor Weekend in West Michigan. He says Kalamazoo will host the first event this September.

In hour number two, Glenn Duncan of Duncan’s Outdoor Shop in Bay City, Michigan joins me. The current ammunition shortage is tops on the list during that discussion.

Next up, Tony Hansen of MUCC. Tony talks about the move to prevent a Michigan wolf hunt by animal rights groups.

Hour three features the man behind Eastman Outdoors and Carbon Express Arrows….Bob Eastman. We talk about the evolution of archery and Bob’s new book about bowhunting Africa in the early days.

The show wraps up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week he has a tasty walleye recipe.

In all, a very fast paced show, filled with lots of great information. I hope you like it.

OUTDOOR MAGAZINE RADIO RUNDOWN FOR 1/19

Rick Mowery of Michigan based Bohning Archery joins me this week. Bohning has been in the archery business for 67 years and they continue to develop new products for today’s archer.

Then, I draw the final winner of an Ameristep Carnivore ground blind.

In the second hour Richard P. Smith joins me to talk about moose, bear and whitetails. Richard says the number of moose in the UP continues to rise. He also has insight into the bear population and observations about the secondary whitetail rut.

Drew Youngdyke of MUCC wraps up the hour with discussion of a project to improve rabbit habitat in the Gratiot/Saginaw game area.

The third hour features Lake St. Clair angler Jim Felgenauer. Jim talks about perch spearing on the body of water…it’s the only lake in Michigan where you can do that.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave and I discuss the Helping Hands Wild Game dinner.

A little slower paced show this week, but still filled with lots of great outdoor information. I hope you like it.

Radio Rundown for January 12th.

There’s another busy show coming up this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

First, I talk about some of the things I saw at the Archery Trade Association (ATA) show in Louisville. There were some interesting products unveiled this year.

I wrap up the hour talking about the war on guns and their owners. I also have a couple suggestions on what gun owners can do to protect our second amendment right.

In the final hour “Sturgeon General” Brenda Archambo of Sturgeon for Tomorrow joins me to talk about that prehistoric fish and we look ahead to the sturgeon spearing season in February.

Radio Rundown for January 5th.

There’s a good show coming up this week on Outdoor Magazine.

I start out by talking about a recent hunting trip with my daughter Shelby.

Then, Dave Rose joins me to talk about early season ice fishing for panfish.

Plus, Pete Jones of Superior Bear Outfitters in White River Ontario describes his wolf hunting operation. Pete’s success rate is nearly one hundred percent on those elusive animals.

Next, Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs brings us up to speed on the wolf issue here in Michigan. It seems the governor has signed a bill making the wolf a game animal now which can lead to a limited hunt in the future.

The final hour features the worlds best fisherman….KVD, Kevin VanDam. Kevin talks about what it takes to become a champion. He also previews the big Ultimate Fishing Show coming up in Novi next weekend.
