Radio Rundown for Last Weekend in June

We kick off this week’s show with the “Chairman of the Boards”, Bruce DeShano of Offshore Tackle.  Offshore has pioneered much of the trolling gear and techniques used by anglers over the last thirty five years.

Then Larry Amy of Monroe Ammo joins me to talk about his Michigan based ammunition manufacturing company.  He also announces a contest to give away three boxes of handgun ammo when the Outdoor Magazine Facebook page hits 28,000 likes.  To enter, you have to like the Monroe Ammo Facebook page (facebook.com/monroeammo).

The second hour features Mike Collins of Bohning Archery.  Bohning has been a leader in the archery industry for more than sixty five years and they continue to develop great products today.

Drew YoungeDyke of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs (mucc.org) is up next.  Drew says the departure of their Executive Director will not have a negative effect on the organization.

Lake Superior lake trout fishing  is the topic of our final hour as I talk with charter captain Dave Kimar of Kimars Charters.  Dave is a veteran angler on the famous Stannard Rock and has some great advice for fishing that offshore reef.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has a very nice lake trout recipe.

Show Rundown for First Weekend of Summer

We kick off summer with another show filled with great guests and information.

First, Scott Szafranski of Linwood Beach Marina talks about the Saginaw Bay walleye fishery so far this season.

Then Tom  Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews  talks about their latest edition.

Hour two features Captain John King of Halcyon Charters.  John fishing the UP port of Detour and also ventures over to the Straits to fish salmon and trout in the shadow of the Mackinac Bridge.

Lt. Creig Grey of the Michigan dnr wraps up the hour talking about their new class of Conservation Officers.

Veteran outdoor writer and wildlife expert Richard P Smith joins me in hour three of this week’s show.  Richards talks of his disappointment in the Natural Resource Commission and their failure to change UP deer hunting regulations.

We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has a very nice catfish recipe.

Rundown for Father’s Day Weekend

The show kicks off with a heartfelt thank you to all Dads on this Father’s Day Weekend.

Then, northern Michigan resident Frank Candela tells the story of a close encounter with a black bear sow and cub.

Plus, Adam Bump of the Michigan dnr talks about bears in Michigan and what people can do to minimize unwanted interaction with them.

John Kirby of Becks Trailer Store in St. Johns, MI wraps up the hour.  Beck’s is the state’s largest trailer outlet with fourteen hundred in stock.

The second hour features Lake St. Clair musky charter captain Don Miller of Millers Sportfishing.  Don says LSC is the best musky fishery in the country and tells why anglers should come and fish with him.

Traditional archery is the topic in the final hour of this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show as I talk with Dave Balowski of St Joe River Bows.  Dave explains the appeal of shooting a recurve or longbow and stresses the importance of finding one that fits the archer.

We wrap it all up with chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week he has an unusual sheephead recipe.

Radio Show Rundown for this Weekend

We kick off this week’s show talking with Scot Argdtsinger of Michigan Made Dream Weaver Lures.  Scott talks about the versatility of trolling spoons and how they come up with new color patterns.

Then, Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me to talk about what’s happening in the Michigan outdoors this time of year.

Bear hunting in northern Ontario is the subject in hour number two as I talk with Ron St. Louis of Northern Wilderness Bear Outfitters (northernwildernessbearhunts).  Ron runs a first class operation in the town of White River and his hunter success rate is nearly 100 percent.

Elyse Walters of the Michigan dnr is up next to talk about “Free Fishing Weekend” and all the activities associated with that Michigan event.

Veteran outdoor writer and avid angler Steve Griffin is the featured guest in hour number three.  Steve and I talk about how the late spring as affecting panfishermen and we discuss why kayaks can be a great tool for anglers.

The show wraps up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar.  As always, Dave has another very nice recipe.
