Radio Rundown for Memorial Day Weekend

We kick off the summer season this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

First Brad Dupuie of Qwest Pontoons joins me to talk about the Angler Qwest fishing tritoon.  The concept of a hard core fishing pontoon is catching on fast with Great Lakes Anglers.

Then, Dave Kimar of Kimars Charters joins me in hour two.  Dave is a veteran charter captain who was the first to take charters to Lake Superior’s Standard Rock.

Next, Drew YoungeDyke of mucc   re-iterates why they’re against proposed legislation they say would decrease the amount of land available to hunters and anglers.

Hour three features outdoor writer Steve Griffin.  Steve talks about why he likes panfishing and has great advice for catching the hard fighting fish.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has a very nice grilled fish recipe.

Lots of great guests and information this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.  I hope you like the show.

Radio Rundown for May 14/15

We kick off this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show with charter captain Jeff Godi of The Michigan Experience.  Jeff talks about trolling spoons on Saginaw Bay and the challenges of running a new charter boat.

Then Laura Corlew joins the conversation.  Laura won a fishing trip with Captain Godi in a contest through the folks at the Forward Corporation.

Whitetails are the opening topic in hour number two as I talk with biologist Chad Stewart of the Michigan dnr.  Chad stresses the importance of leaving fawns alone.  He says there’s never a good reason to pick one up.

Then mucc‘s Drew YoungeDyke checks in with details on proposed legislation that would make it easier for the state to sell public land and limit access for hunting and angling.

Joe Marion kicks off the final hour of this week’s show.  Joe is a charter captain and former coastguardsman who has spent his life on the water.  Joe has great advice to prevent accidents while on the Great Lakes and inland water.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week Dave has a very nice walleye recipe.

Great guests and information this week.  I hope you like the show.

Radio Rundown for May 7/8

It’s a fishing theme this Mother’s Day Weekend on the Outdoor Magazine Radio Show.

First, I talk with Capt. Paul Schlafley of Riverside Charters in Manistee.  Paul says the season is off to a slow start but he expects the action to pick up in the next few days.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews talks about his turkey hunting this spring and the latest edition of their magazine.

Hour two kicks off with the “Sturgeon General”, Brenda Archambo of the Black Lake Chapter of  Sturgeon for Tomorrow.  The giant fish are spawning now and Brenda says this is a good time to get a look at them.

Michigan dnr Fisheries Chief Jim Dexter wraps up the hour.  Jim talks about the status of our state’s fishery today.

Nick DeShano of Off Shore Tackle is featured in the final hour of this week’s show.  Nick describes some of his company’s new products and the process of bringing new gear to the market.

Wild Game Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up.  This time he has a very nice turkey recipe.
