We kick off this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show talking about the crazy weather with meteorologist Mark Torregrossa (FarmerWeather.com). Way back in September, Mark accurately predicted what this winter would be like. Now he gives us his thoughts on the spring and summer weather patterns. Here’s a hint…be sure to get your air conditioner tuned up early this year.
Then Conservation Officer Tony Soave (Michigan.gov/dnr) joins me to talk about the upcoming walleye season closure on Michigan rivers and what that means for anglers.
Turkey hunting is the opening topic in hour number two as I talk with Brandon Ziegler from Jays Sporting Goods. Brandon has great advice on choosing the right turkey gun, choke tube and ammo for longbeards. We also discuss the importance of patterning your gun before the season.
Next, Lee Osterland of the Michigan dnr joins me to talk about prescription burns and how the department uses fire to improve habitat.
Veteran outdoor writer Tom Lounsbury is featured in our final hour. Tom is a lifelong outdoorsman from Michigan’s Thumb and he always has a very interesting perspective on hunting and fishing related issues.
We wrap up this week’s show with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. As always, Dave has a very nice wild game recipe.
Interesting guests with great information this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio. I hope you like the show.
