Rundown for the Last Weekend in July

We wrap up the month with some great guests and information this week on Outdoor Magazine.

First, master taxidermist RJ Meyer of the Trophy Room Taxidermy studio in Allendale joins me.  RJ has great advice on preserving the memories of your Great Lakes fishing trips.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews says they’re rapidly filling up on vendor space for the upcoming Outdoor Weekend in September.

Hour two kicks off with Eric Lafollette of Jays Sporting Goods.  Eric is the manager of the archery department in Jay’s Clare store and he says it’s time to start getting ready for the season.

Next, Lt. Steve Burton from the Michigan dnr talks about the current class of recruits training to be conservation officers.

Carol Rose of the Michigan Wildlife Council wraps up the hour.  She has an update on the “Here For Generations” campaign (hereformioutdoors.org).

Veteran Great Lakes charter captain Ed Rutherford of Trout Scout Charters in Alpena is featured in the final hour of this week’s show.  Ed has been a fishing guide and charter captain for almost fifty years and has plenty of stories to tell about his time on the water.

We wrap it up with chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time it’s an interesting catfish recipe.

Radio Rundown for 8/23

It’s a little slower paced show this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

In hour number one I talk with Glenn Duncan of Duncans Outdoor Shop in Bay City.  Glenn discusses what’s hot for this fall, the status of ammo supplies and how to maintain you gun.

Michigan’s “Mr. Walleye”, Mark Martin  joins me in the second hour.  Mark and I talk about his early days of walleye fishing on Muskegon Lake and how that started his professional angling career.  As always, Mark has great advice on how to catch more fish.

Archery season prep is the topic for hour number three as I talk with Eric LaFollette of Jays Sporting Goods.  Eric is the archery department manager of their Clare store and an avid bowhunter.

We wrap it all up with chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week the Chef has an interesting smoked carp recipe.
