Retired DNR biologist and Michigan Wildlife Council member Jim Hammill is my first guest.  Jim talks about the “Here for Generations” campaign (hereformioutdoors.org) and the status of wolves in the UP today.

Then, Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews takes a look ahead to their April edition.

Hour two kicks off with outdoor writer Brian Miller.  Brian has great advice on bowhunting for turkeys and walleye fishing on the Maumee River.

Holly Vaughn of the Michigan dnr is up next with details on Michigan’s Wetland Wonders and why those areas are a great place to watch migrating birds in the springtime.

Michigan based Off Shore Tackle is featured in the final hour of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show as I talk with “Chairman of the Boards”, Bruce DeShano.  Bruce describes how the company got started and the evolution of their products over the years.

We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.   This week Dave has a very nice turkey recipe.

Show Rundown for Easter Weekend

This week’s show kicks off with Carol Rose of the Michigan Wildlife Council.   Carol talks about the “Here.  For Generations” campaign to educate Michigan’s non hunters and anglers.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me.  Tom talks about the early days of that magazine and why they’ve been so successful for more than thirty years.

Morel mushrooms are the opening topic of discussion in hour number two.  Clayton Edney, a guy I call “Michigan’s Morel Master”,  discusses the early start to this year’s mushroom season and has great advice on finding the tasty fungus.  You can track the season on Clayton’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/michiganmorels).

Pure Michigan Hunt winner Mike Scherzer is up next.  Mike talks about the gear he won and plans for his upcoming hunts.

Derrick Poet is the featured guest in hour number three.  Derrick is a hard core turkey hunter who loves to chase longbeards with a bow.  Derrick talks about blinds, broadheads, decoy set up and more.  He also discusses his Six 11 Custom Bowstring business  (facebook.com/six11archery).

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has a very nice rabbit recipe (in honor of the easter bunny).

I hope you like the show.

Outdoor Mag Radio/1st Weekend in April

Another interesting show this weekend on Outdoor Magazine radio. For the better part of the first hour I get a chance to express my thoughts and opinions on a wide range of outdoor topics. The first segment was planned, it continued through the second segment because of a scheduling mistake.

We called in Tom Campbell of the Woods-n-Waternews to help me finish the hour out. Tom talks about how that publication got started and what to expect from the next edition.

In the second hour Eric Sherwood of Whitetail Select joins me to talk about food plots. Planting season is just around the corner and Eric has some expert advice on how to get started.

Next, Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs is my guest as we talk about the latest outdoor news and issues.

Derrick Poet is my guest in the third hour. Derrick is a third generation family member at Jay’s Sporting Goods. He’s also an expert turkey hunter and hard core bowhunter. Derrick has some great advice on bowhunting turkeys.

The show wraps up chatting with wild game Chef Dixie Dave Minar.

Another busy show filled with lots of great news and information. I hope you enjoy it.
