Radio Rundown for the last Weekend in November

First, Michigan deer hunter John Wardynski tells the amazing story of how a black bear stole John’s buck…and he has the video to prove it.

Then Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures (iFishDetroit.com) talks about the late fall fishing opportunities in Southern Michigan.

Hour two kicks off with Jason Blitchok of the Michigan Darkhouse Angling Association.  Jason describes the time honored tradition of pike spearing and how to get started.

Bryan Darland from Jays Sporting Goods is up next.  Bryan is the manager of Jay’s Clare store and he has some great suggestions for the outdoor enthusiast on your Christmas list.

Fishing is the opening topic of discussion on hour three this week as I talk with outdoor writer and fishing guide Dave Rose (WildFishing.com).  Dave talks about the great fall fishing to be had across the state right now, and looks forward to ice fishing season.

Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps the show up, this time with another great venison recipe.

Radio Rundown for July 22nd.

First, Eric Sherwood of Michigan based Whitetail Select Seed talks about planting late summer food plots.  He says August is a great time for that and describes the process and how to get the best results.

Then, Nick Grillo of Michigan Brand Meats announces the opening of their online store and talks about a new recipe in the works for their jerky.

Hour two kicks off with Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures fishing charters (iFishDetroit.com).  Brad talks about the tremendous fishery on Lake St. Clair.

Next Nick Green, mucc‘s new Public Information Officer joins me.  Nick describes his background of hunting and fishing in Northern Michigan, as well as his plans to update the Michigan Out-of-Doors Magazine.

The hour wraps up with Bryan Darland from Jays Sporting Goods.  Bryan was at the big ICAST show in Florida and he talks about the new fishing gear unveiled there.

Hour three features Jerry Wydner of the Hunter Safety System company.  HSS was the first company to come out with an easy to use, full body safety harness.  Over the years their products have continued to improve and evolve.  This year, they now offer scent control in some of their harnesses.

We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has an interesting sheephead recipe.

Radio Rundown for the First Show in April

We kick off the new month with a fast paced show covering many topics this week.

First, Tod Williams of the Bay Port Fish Company joins me to talk about the proposed changes to Michigan’s commercial fishing laws.  Those changes would allow commercial fishermen to keep an incidental catch of walleye and lake trout.

Then, charter captain Jeff Godi of The Michigan Experience announces  a Saginaw Bay walleye fishing trip he’s giving away this summer.

Emily Mallory of the Forward Corporation wraps up the hour and explains how to win that fishing trip by stopping by your local Forward convenience store.

Hour two kicks off with Kevin Charron of Jays Sporting Goods.  Kevin talks about the importance of patterning your shotgun for turkey season and has some great advice on choosing the right loads and choke tubes.

Drew YoungeDyke from mucc is up next.  This week Drew explains the importance of continued funding for CWD research.

Katie Keen of the Michigan dnr is my last guest of the hour.  Katie reminds us it’s time  for new hunting and fishing licenses.

Fishing is the topic in hour three of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show as I talk with Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures (iFishDetroit.com).  Brad says the springtime fishing opportunities in SE Michigan are world class.

Rundown for August 20/21

Tom Beecher of Michigan based Vanguard kicks off this week’s show.  Vanguard makes top quality optics and accessories.  I’ve been working with Vanguard for a few months now and continue to be impressed by the quality of their products and emphasis on customer service.


Tom Campbell of  Woods-n-Waternews wraps up the hour talking about their September edition and the upcoming Outdoor Weekend in Imlay City.

Hour two features Lance Valentine of Walleye101. Lance is an expert angler and respected outdoor educator.  He’s also a new member of the Angler Qwest team.

Drew YoungeDyle of mucc is up next.  Drew talks about an upcoming OTG (On The Ground) project in the UP and his routine for getting in shape for the hunting season.

Fishing is the topic of discussion in the final hour of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show.  Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures (iFishDetroit.com) talks about musky and walleye fishing, as well as a recent to trip to Ontario for some world class steelhead fishing on Lake Erie.

Rundown for First Weekend in April

We kick off the new month with some interesting guests this week on the Outdoor Magazine Radio Show.

First, Josh Pawlak of Vanguard Outdoors joins me to talk about that Michigan based company.  I’m happy to welcome Vanguard to the Outdoor Magazine family.

Then, Captain Jeff Godi of The Michigan Experience  fishing charters joins me to talk about a fishing trip giveaway coming up on Saginaw Bay.

Hour two kicks off with veteran turkey hunter Greg Abbas of Away Outdoors (AwayHunting.com).  Greg talks about targeting early season birds and demonstrates some calls to help you bag a gobbler.
