Radio Rundown for the First Show in April

We kick off the new month with a fast paced show covering many topics this week.

First, Tod Williams of the Bay Port Fish Company joins me to talk about the proposed changes to Michigan’s commercial fishing laws.  Those changes would allow commercial fishermen to keep an incidental catch of walleye and lake trout.

Then, charter captain Jeff Godi of The Michigan Experience announces  a Saginaw Bay walleye fishing trip he’s giving away this summer.

Emily Mallory of the Forward Corporation wraps up the hour and explains how to win that fishing trip by stopping by your local Forward convenience store.

Hour two kicks off with Kevin Charron of Jays Sporting Goods.  Kevin talks about the importance of patterning your shotgun for turkey season and has some great advice on choosing the right loads and choke tubes.

Drew YoungeDyke from mucc is up next.  This week Drew explains the importance of continued funding for CWD research.

Katie Keen of the Michigan dnr is my last guest of the hour.  Katie reminds us it’s time  for new hunting and fishing licenses.

Fishing is the topic in hour three of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show as I talk with Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures (iFishDetroit.com).  Brad says the springtime fishing opportunities in SE Michigan are world class.

As always, we wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  There’s no recipe this week.  Instead, Dave and I talk about the upcoming Facebook live event at his restaurant on Wednesday, April 5th.  There’s still time to get reservations.  Call 989 624-9349 to reserve a table.

A fast paced show this week filled with great guests and information.  I hope you like it.

Metro Deroit fishing is the topic of discussion in hour number three as I talk with guide Brad Smith of Detroit Outdoor Adventures (iFishDetroit.com).  Brad has great advice on jigging for Detroit River walleye.  He also talks about fishing for other species, including this nice musky caught on a recent trip.
