Radio Rundown to Kick Off October

Allan Goetz from the Michigan Buck Pole is my first guest this week.  Allan describes how their “online buck pole” started and talks about their impressive growth.

Then Emily Mallory of the Forward Corporation  joins me to talk about another giveaway.  This time it’s a hunting blind from Slayer Blinds.

Speaking of Slayer Outdoor Products, Rob Trowbridge from that Michigan based company  wraps up the hour with details on their products.

Hour two kicks off with Mike Horswill of Jays Sporting Goods.  Mike is an expert meat processor and has great advice on field dressing, butchering and processing your deer.

Amy Trotter from mucc is up next.  Amy talks about their recent Great Lakes Day at the state capitol.  She also has updates on the Lake Erie algae bloom, aquaculture and asian carp.

Michigan’s “Mr. Walleye”,  Mark Martin is featured in hour three this week.  Mark has great advice  about fishing the fall and has a preview of his upcoming Fishing Vacation Schools.

Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up.  This time he has a very nice venison recipe.

I hope you like the show.

Radio This Weekend (12/4-5)

The show kicks off with my rantings about outdoor radio and tv today. Eventually, I get around to the announcement that Outdoor Magazine TV is getting phased out so I can concentrate on the radio show.

Next, Dennis Piretra of Wenger North America joins me. Wenger is the original Swiss Army knife company. I think their knives and watches are great Christmas gift ideas for the hunter and angler on your list. Dennis talks about their gear and why it’s still quality after all these years.

Then, Tim Hart of the Q1 Buckpole contest talks about this week’s big bucks.

The hour wraps up with Randy Jorgenson of Woods-n-Waternews. Randy tells me his perception of this past gun season in Michigan.

The second hour features outdoor writer and pundit Dan Donarski of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Dan and I continue on the deer hunting theme. We both agree this season was spotty and less than spectacular.

Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs is my next guest. Tony has lots to talk about concerning the new director of the Michigan DNR and the governor’s plan to split the DNR and Department of Environmental Quality again.

Scott DeVuyst kicks off the third hour from Texas where he’s hunting with Brian Scheiffer on the DeVuyst Game Ranch. Brian is there courtesy of the Casey Bauer Memorial. Brian is a veteran who’s limited to a wheelchair now because of a training accident.

Here’s the buck he shot.

My next guest is Bob Gwizdz. Bob is a former outdoor writer now working for the Michigan DNR. He talks with me about the deer season from a refreshing perspective.

The show wraps up as always with Wild Game Chef Dixie Dave Minar. Dave brings us up to speed on the status of his wild game soups.

Wow, a busy show this week! I hope you enjoy it
