Radio Rundown for the Last Weekend in October

This week’s show kicks off with a discussion about guns with Jeania Canel of Jays Sporting Goods.  Jeania is the manager of the gun department in their Clare store and she says hunters have a great deal of choices these days.

Then Allan Goetz from the Michigan Buck Pole (MiBuckPole.com) joins me to talk about some of the animals submitted to their online buck pole.

Hour two features a conversation with Michigan outdoor writer turned big game hunting guide, Denny Geurink (dgoa.com).  Denny started hunting in Russia almost thirty years ago.  These days his hunters take more trophy brown bears than any other outfitter in the world.

Nick Green from the Michigan United Conservation Clubs (mucc.org) wraps up the hour.  Nick describes the role of MUCC and talks about some of the projects their working on.

Charter Captain and fishing guide Lance Keene of Trout Scout charters joins me in the final hour of this week’s show.  We talk to Lance while he’s on the Big Manistee River fishing for steelhead.  In fact, one of his customers caught a nice fish during the conversation.

Hour two kicks off with Brad Smyth of Detroit Outdoor Adventures fishing charters (iFishDetroit.com).  Brad talks about the tremendous fishery on Lake St. Clair.

Next Nick Green, mucc‘s new Public Information Officer joins me.  Nick describes his background of hunting and fishing in Northern Michigan, as well as his plans to update the Michigan Out-of-Doors Magazine.

The hour wraps up with Bryan Darland from Jays Sporting Goods.  Bryan was at the big ICAST show in Florida and he talks about the new fishing gear unveiled there.

Hour three features Jerry Wydner of the Hunter Safety System company.  HSS was the first company to come out with an easy to use, full body safety harness.  Over the years their products have continued to improve and evolve.  This year, they now offer scent control in some of their harnesses.

We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has an interesting sheephead recipe.

I hope you like the show.
