Radio Show Rundown for 11/18

I start out this week’s show talking about the Michigan firearm deer season and why it’s such a big part of our outdoor heritage.

Then, Ted Harpham of Darton Archery has details on their deal to make bows for Martin Archery and he talks about their revolutionary new cam system and bow designs.

Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews discusses their upcoming December edition.

Hour two kicks off with Tim Roller of Whitetail Journey.  Tim has advice on hunting Michigan’s highly pressured deer during the gun season.

Nick Green from mucc is up next with details of their latest magazine and  some of the issues that group is working on.

Glen Venner of the Lure Lipstick Company leads off the final hour of this week’s show.  Glenn has enjoyed some excellent walleye fishing on the Saginaw River lately.  He has great advice on how to catch fall river walleye.

Chef Dixie Dave Minar is up next.  Dave discuss field prep of your deer and also has a nice venison recipe.

This week’s show wraps up with Michigan dnr Wildlife Chief Russ Mason.  Russ talks about the need for hunters in the CWD zones to shoot more deer and for all Michigan hunters to be on the lookout for the disease.

It’s a busy show this week.  I hope you like it.

Radio This Weekend (1/29-30)

The show kicks off with me talking about the recent SHOT show in Las Vegas. My thoughts centered on the Sportsman Channel Awards program, and the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade show itself.

Then, Bill Hahn of Jay’s Sporting Goods joins me to talk about his experience at SHOT and some of the trends he noticed. Bill talks about the interest in scouting cameras these days and has some great advice on how to buy the right one. We also discuss the strong interest in ground blinds and what to look for in those products.

In the second hour Michigan DNR biologist Al Stewart joins me. Al was recently honored as the only biologist to trap all species of north american turkeys….the “grand slam” for biologists. Steward discusses the status of turkeys in Michigan today and reminds hunters time is running out to apply for a spring license.

The hour wraps up with Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. Tony talks about his experience at SHOT and the latest conservation related issues back home in Michigan.

Doug Deming of Fish Point Lodge kicks off the final hour of this weekend’s show. The lodge is one of the oldest hunting and fishing operations on Saginaw Bay and Doug is an expert when it comes to ice fishing that water. He talks about ice conditions so far this winter and has some advice on how to catch big pre spawn walleye.

As always, Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps the show up. This time Dave has a tasty venison recipe.

A busy show…I hope you enjoy it.
