Rundown for July 4th Weekend

We kick off this long  holiday weekend talking with Glenn Duncan of Duncans Outdoor Shop in Bay City.  Glenn says this is a good time to take a look at your hunting guns, get any needed work done and get them sighted in early.

Then, app designer Rob Milano talks about the updated Outdoor Magazine app.  That app is now available free in the iTunes Store and will be updated on Google Play very soon.

Hour two kicks off with Jim Felgenauer of the St. Clair Chapter of Sturgeon for Tomorrow (stclairsturgeon.org).  Jim talks about the fantastic walleye fishing in the St. Clair river right now and also the upcoming sturgeon season there.

Scott Whitcomb of the Michigan dnr is up next.  Scott describes a project to map all trails and two tracks in our state forests.  You can get more details here…(michigan.gov/forestroads).

Veteran whitetail guide and outfitter Bill Pyles of Ohio Bowhunting Outfitters (bowoutfitters.com) is featured in hour three.  Bill talks about his operation and has great advice on what hunters can do now to get ready for the upcoming season.

Wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up.  This time Dave has an interesting crayfish recipe.

Greg Gasiciel is up next.  Greg tells the story of catching that new state record smallmouth bass.

The final hour features Tim Roller of the Whitetail Journey television show.  Tim has great advice on hunting the whitetail rut.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week Dave has a very nice duck recipe.

Show Rundown for October 12/13

We kick off the show talking with Jim Felgenauer about fall fishing for Sturgeon on the St. Clair River.  Jim says this is a good time to catch one of the giant fish.  You can see some great pictures of those fish at the website St Clair Sturgeon.org.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me with a preview of their November issue.

The second hour features Rob Miller of the Michigan Deer Trackn Hounds group.  Rob and his guys have dogs trained to follow the scent of one specific deer so they can usually recover an animal even without a blood trail.

Drew YoungeDyke of MUCC is up next to talk about a new program for deer hunters to raise money and fight anti hunting efforts in Michigan.  It’s called “Defend The Hunt” and you can learn more about the program by watching the video at this link  http://youtu.be/TXUzCJycgZQ.

Waterfowl hunting is the topic of the third hour this week as I talk with Doug Deming of the Fish Point Lodge on Saginaw Bay.  Doug has lots of experience guiding hunters on open water and has some great advice.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week Dave has another great venison recipe.

A busy show filled with lots of good information.  I hope you like it.
