Rundown for Labor Day Weekend

First, Michigan dnr biologist Chad Stewart joins me to talk about new regulations for deer, elk and moose hunters heading out of state.

Then Emily Mallory of the Forward Corporation has details on their September give away programs…including a new Darton crossbow.

Ted Harpham of Darton Archery wraps up the hour.  He talks about the popularity of their new Maverick compound and Toxin 100 crossbow.

Hour two kicks off with biologist Jennifer Kleitch.  She talks about the early Michigan elk hunt and the status of our state’s elk herd.

Nick Green from mucc  is up next with details of their OTG program plus the latest edition of their magazine.

Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa of MLive wraps up the hour.  He says it’s going to be an early fall and winter.

Biologist and avid upland bird hunter Al Stewart kicks off hour number three this week.  Al says Michigan is one of the top states in the country for grouse and woodcock hunting.

We wrap it all up with chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time dave has a very nice fish recipe.

Radio Rundown for September 12/13

This week’s Outdoor Magazine show is filled with great guests and information.

First, outdoor writer and fishing guide Dave Rose (WildFishing.com)  joins me to talk about fall fishing opportunities in northern Michigan.

Tim Dusterwinkle is featured in hour number two.  Tim is the president of the Michigan Bear Hunters Association (mibearhunters.org) He talks about the upcoming bear season and the appeal of running bears with dogs.

Next, the conversation turns to whitetail deer with Chad Stewart of the  Michigan  dnr Chad has an update on the CWD situation and preview of the upcoming season.

Bird hunting is the opening topic of hour number three as I talk with Al Stewart.  Al is the upland game bird specialist for the DNR and an avid bird hunter.  Al talks about fall turkey hunting, as well as grouse and woodcock seasons.

Dixie Dave Minar wraps up this week’s show with a spicy grilled goose breast recipe.

Rundown for September 20/21

We get ready to kick off fall this weekend on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

First, dnr biologist and avid hunter Al Stewart talks about upland game bird hunting in northern Michigan.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews has details on their October edition.

Fishing Guide Lance Keen of Steelhead Hunter charters joins me with advice on how to fish for big king salmon in the river.

Next, mucc‘s Drew YoungeDyke talks about the why there will be no Michigan wolf hunt this fall and how HSUS is trying to exploit the situation.

Hour three features outdoor writer and expert outdoorsman Tom Lounsbury.  Tom and I shoot the breeze about all things outdoor this time of year in Michigan.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week Dave has an elegant venison recipe.

Rundown for First Fall Weekend

We kick off the fall with a with some great guests this week.

First…Patrick Lange.  Patrick won the Darton Terminator crossbow in our facebook contest.

Then, Darton’s Ted Harpham congratulates Patrick and talks that Michigan based company.

Scott Szafranski of Linwood Beach Marina on Saginaw Bay wraps up the hour talking about fall walleye and perch fishing on the Bay.  We also discuss a new fishing pontoon boat designed for trolling big water.



The second hour features Greg Abbas of A-Way Outdoors (http://www.AwayHunting.com).  Greg is an expert whitetail hunter who specializes in using calls to attract big bucks.  He has some great advice on that technique and also manipulating habitat to influence deer movement.

Al Stewart of the Michigan dnr is up next to talk about upland bird hunting.  Al is a wildlife biologist and an avid grouse and woodcock hunter.  He says Michigan is a destination for bird hunters because of the good hunting and habitat here.

As always we wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week he has a hearty squirrel recipe.
