Radio Rundown for 10/14

First, Gary Morgan of East Lake Outfitters (WildGameDynasty.com) joins me to talk about  his bear season in the eastern UP.  We also talks about deer hunting in the Yoop and look ahead to next spring’s turkey season.

Then Tom Campbell from Woods-n-Waternews  joins me to talk about their November edition.

In hour two, audiologist and avid hunter Mike Stewart is my first guest.  Mike describes the damage gunshots can do to our hearing and has some great advice on how to prevent it.

Then, Captain Jeff Godi of The Michigan Experience talks about waterfowl hunting on Saginaw Bay and how the high water could affect hunters this season.

Outdoor writer and wildlife expert Richard P Smith is featured in the final hour of this week’s show.  Richard tells the story of his successful Michigan bear hunt and talks about bear and deer hunting in Michigan.

Rundown for August 19-20

Hour two kicks off with fishing guide and outdoor writer Dave Rose (WildFishing.com).  Dave has an on the water report while smallmouth fishing on Grand Traverse Bay.

Next, Bob Ransom (the guy who started Ameristep) talks about his new tree stand company called Primal Treestands.

The final hour features veteran outdoorsman Tom Lounsbury.  Tom talks about getting ready for the hunting season and some of his favorite types of hunting.

Rundown for the Last Weekend in July

We wrap up the month with some great guests and information this week on Outdoor Magazine.

First, master taxidermist RJ Meyer of the Trophy Room Taxidermy studio in Allendale joins me.  RJ has great advice on preserving the memories of your Great Lakes fishing trips.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews says they’re rapidly filling up on vendor space for the upcoming Outdoor Weekend in September.

Hour two kicks off with Eric Lafollette of Jays Sporting Goods.  Eric is the manager of the archery department in Jay’s Clare store and he says it’s time to start getting ready for the season.

Next, Lt. Steve Burton from the Michigan dnr talks about the current class of recruits training to be conservation officers.

Carol Rose of the Michigan Wildlife Council wraps up the hour.  She has an update on the “Here For Generations” campaign (hereformioutdoors.org).

Veteran Great Lakes charter captain Ed Rutherford of Trout Scout Charters in Alpena is featured in the final hour of this week’s show.  Ed has been a fishing guide and charter captain for almost fifty years and has plenty of stories to tell about his time on the water.

Then, Ron St. Louis of Northern Wilderness Bear Outfitters joins me to talk about bear hunting in White River Ontario.

The hour wraps up with Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews  and a big award he received from the Michigan Outdoor Writer’s Association.

Retired DNR biologist and Michigan Wildlife Council member Jim Hammill is my first guest.  Jim talks about the “Here for Generations” campaign (hereformioutdoors.org) and the status of wolves in the UP today.

Then, Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews takes a look ahead to their April edition.

Rundown for March 11/12

Chris Hamm of Wisconsin based HHA Sports is my first guest this week.  HHA is the leader in adjustable, single pin archery sight technology.  Chris talks about the history of their family owned company, the products they make and our new HHA Sports Podcast.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me with details of their upcoming April edition.

Hour two starts out with Tom Goniea of the Michigan dnr.   Tom is the senior fisheries biologist for the department and the guy who overseas commercial fishing operations in the state.  He has some interesting comments about proposed changes in the commercial fishing regulations that could allow them to keep walleye and lake trout.

Then, Dupuie of Angler Qwest boats joins me.  Brad says demand for the big water trolling tritoon is strong and promotes their appearance at the big Ultimate Sport Show (showspan.com/USG/) coming up in Grand Rapids in a couple weeks.

Hannah Schauer of the Michigan dnr is up next.  Hannah talks about the growing number of coyote complaints from southern Michigan residents.

Rundown for the Weekend of 2/11-12

My first guest the week is Michigan dnr Fisheries Chief Jim Dexter.  Jim talks about the Lake Michigan salmon fishery and responds to charges he should be fired for decisions on stocking lake trout.

Then Tom Campbell from Woods-n-Waternews  joins me with details on their March edition.

Hour two kicks of with Blaine Bailer of Jays Sporting Goods.  Blaine is an avid predator hunter and has advice on coyote hunting during the breeding season.

Elyse Walters from the DNR is up next.  She talks about the upcoming free fishing weekend and their weekly fishing reports for anglers.

Dan Davis of Burt Watson Chevrolet wraps up the hour.  Dan has worked at that dealership for more than thirty years and says leasing is the way to go these days.

We’re talking Angler Qwest in the final hour of this week’s show.  Boat designer Brad Dupuie joins me to discuss changes in the boat design for 2017.  He also shares some tips on trolling spoons for open water walleye.

Show Rundown for the Weekend of August 27/28

Weather is the opening topic of discussion on this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show as I talk with meteorologist Mark Torregrossa.  Here’s a hint, mark says this fall is likely to be warmer than usual.  You can learn more at FarmerWeather.com and mlive.com.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me to talk more about their big Outdoor Weekend coming up September 9-11 at the Eastern Michigan fairgrounds in Imlay City.
