Outdoor Magazine Radio for this Weekend

Charter Captain Mike Orr of Five Orrs Charters kicks off the show this week.  Mike was fishing southern Lake Michigan for salmon and trout but he’s moved his business to Lake Erie because the fishing there is so much better.H

Hour two features another professional fisherman, Paul Schlafley of River Side Charters out of Manistee.  Paul is talking to us from the Manistee River, where he says the steelhead action has been pretty good.

Next, mucc Executive Director Dan Eichinger joins me to talk about a variety of issues, including the plan to allow commercial fishermen to keep walleye and lake trout.  MUCC is against that proposal.

James Severance of Burt Watson  Chevrolet wraps up the hour.  James says they’re offering a new “Outdoorsman” Silverado, based on my truck.

Veteran outdoor writer and expert hunter Tom Lounsbury is my guest in hour three.  Tom is always of wealth of information and stories about his outdoor experiences….and this time is no exception.

We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar and another interesting wild game dinner.

Rundown for 3/16

The show kicks off this week with the announcement of a new facebook page to honor Michigan’s Outdoor Legends. I’m excited about this project and welcome input on who should be honored with that title.

Then, Scott Rifenbark of Rifenbark Armory joins me to talk about his small Michigan company and the AR style rifles they produce.

Gary Morgan of East Lake Outfitters is up next. Gary says his guide service is a great option for first time turkey hunters.

The second hour kicks off with captain Mike Orr of Five Orr’s Charters on southern Lake Michigan. That part of the lake usually opens up early and offers trollers their first chance at big water salmon and trout.

Outdoor Magazine contributor Richard P. Smith kicks off the third hour of this week’s show. Richard and I talk about his Camera Moose Hunt project, UP whitetails, wolves and lots more.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar and a great wild game recipe.

Another fast paced and informational show. I hope you like it.

Show Rundown for 3/17

Another busy show this week…..

First, I talk with a man who says he’s had a hunting dog killed by a wolf…in lower Michigan. Larry Bialobrzeski is a veteran hunter with lots of experience watching coyotes and wolves….he says this animal was not a coyote.

Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews wraps up the hour with a look at the April edition of that magazine.

Then charter captain Mike Orr of East Chicago Indiana joins me to talk about early season trolling on southern Lake Michigan. Mike says the action for salmon and trout is fast and furious right now.

Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs is up next with an update on outdoor related issues in Lansing.

The final hour features Derrick Poet of Jay’s Sporting Goods. Derrick helps us get ready for turkey season with some great advice on patterning a shotgun.

Wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps things up with a preview of his wild game dinner season.

Another show filled with lots of great information…I hope you enjoy it.

Then, Tom Hugger of Showspan joins me to talk about the big Ultimate Sport Show in Grand Rapids next weekend. The show is in it’s 66th year and promises to be better than ever.

In the final segment I answer the question of “why hunt wolves if you’re not going to eat them?” I believe that’s a valid question and you can listen to my response by
