We kick off the new month with some interesting guests and topics.
First, Michigan dnr biologist Jen Kleitch joins me to talk about the Michigan elk herd and the opportunities to see those giant animals.
Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews previews their big Outdoor Weekend coming up in Imlay City.
Hour two kicks off with Lincoln Rohn from LetemGoLetemGrow. That group is working for mandatory antler point restrictions in Michigan. I’m not in favor of that, and I’ve had some problems with their methods, but I believe it’s time for Michigan hunters to come together and stop fighting among ourselves.
Next, Nick Green of mucc joins me to talk about the upcoming projects on their agenda.
We wrap up the hour with Tom Jones of Michigan Operation Freedom Outdoor (miofo.org). Tom says his group is dedicated to getting folks with physical disabilities back in the outdoors.
My good friend and master taxidermist RJ Meyer opens up the final hour of this week’s show. We talk about our recent bear hunt to White River Ontario and RJ has some great advice on preserving your outdoor memories. RJ has done a lot of great work for me over the years. Here’s a picture from my office with some examples.
Then Ed Bolanowski of Speedy Blaze describes what their product is and why it might be a good replacement for firewood.
Wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up. Dave talks about some upcoming benefit dinners and has great advice on cooking wild game.
I hope you like the show.
