I’ve been blogging about the frustrations of trying to get out on Saginaw Bay walleye fishing. Well, those problems aren’t just limited to the east side of Michigan.
I spent the weekend in Manistee…trying to get out salmon fishing.
Saturday morning it was blowing so hard we didn’t even try. A check of the surf later in the morning found the waves crashing over the south pier….certainly not suitable water for a 22 foot boat.
On Sunday the wind seemed to let up just a little, so at four thirty (that’s AM), we ventured out to the mouth of the river. We thought about slowly motoring into the waves for a couple miles, then turning around for a test troll….but when we fell hard off the backside of a five footer, we decided it was time to turn around.
There were a fair number of boats that headed out that morning, and quite a few of them got fish. I’m glad we turned around though. There will be other chances, though probably not right away. The weather forecast is calling for high winds the next several days.
Like I said before..you can’t fight Mother Nature.
