First, wildlife biologist Chad Stewart of the Michigan dnr joins me with a preview of what to expect from the upcoming deer season.  He also talks about the biological and social impact of the youth hunt and has an update on CWD and TB in the Michigan deer herd.

Hour two kicks off with Conservation Officer Lt. Jeremy Payne.  Jeremy says they’re looking for more officers and describes what it takes to be a modern day Game Warden.  He also has some advice on staying legal in the field this fall.

Paul Yauk is up next.  Paul has details on the Michigan trail system and the upcoming national trails week program.  You can learn more about the trail system at Michigan.gov/trailsweek.

We wrap up the hour talking about pheasant hunting in Michigan.  Ken Dalton is on a crusade to get the DNR to release pheasants on state land and the movement is getting some support.  You can follow the project at mphi.info.

Matt Pedigo is the featured guest in hour number three this week.  First, Matt talks about the Michigan Wildlife Council and their “Here for Generations” campaign (HereforMiOutdoors.org).  Then, Matt puts on his Michigan bear hunters hat to discuss the state’s bear population and the number of tags issued by the DNR.

Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up.  This time Dave has a very nice squirrel recipe.

I hope you like the show.
