We celebrate deer season this weekend on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

First, I describe my recent bowhunting adventure in Kansas. Warm weather and a full moon worked against me, but I still had a great trip.

Then RJ Meyer of the Trophy Room Taxidermy Studio joins me to talk about field preparation of animals for the taxidermist.

Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews wraps up the hour talking with a discussion on the history and tradition of deer hunting in Michigan.

The second hour kicks off with Terry Eby of CVA muzzleloaders. Once known as an entry level gun, CVA has gained a reputation these days for producing quality muzzleloaders. Terry describes the different models available.

Mark Romanack wraps up the hour talking about his deer hunting trips in Michigan so far this season. We also discuss fall walleye fishing on the Saginaw River and Bay.

The third hour kicks off with the “Motor City Madman”, Ted Nugent. Ted is a hard core hunter and shooter, who has some very strong opinions about wildlife management issues. In fact, he says the Michigan DNR used “junk science” to ban baiting for deer in this state. You can hear more of my conversation with Ted by clicking here.

We wrap up the show with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. As you might expect on the opening weekend of deer season, Dave has a tasty venison recipe.

Another busy show….I hope you enjoy it.
