This week on Outdoor Magazine radio we talk about hunting, fishing and wildlife.
First, an update on my turkey hunting efforts. I’ve spent the past two weeks chasing Michigan longbeards with a Predator Recurve Bow. So far I’ve missed a couple birds and had several close encounters.
Next, Brian Roell of the Michigan DNR joins us to talk about the delisting of wolves. When the animals are no longer considered endangered or threatened, the Department can use lethal methods to handle nuisance complaints.
We wrap up the hour with Randy Jorgenson of the Woods-n-Waternews.
Randy brings us up to speed on what’s going on in the outdoors across the state this spring.
The second hour of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show kicks off with Doug Deming of the Fish Point Lodge. Doug discusses early season walleye fishing on Saginaw Bay, bowfishing for carp and other rough fish as well as flyfishing for carp.
Next, Mark Romanack checks in to talk fishing, as well as his new Starcraft STX 2050 walleye boat.
In the third hour we bring in professional walleye angler Mark Gwizdala. Mark tells me about the new AIM fishing tournament and the BayFest event coming to Bay City later this month. We also discuss the efforts of some groups to put the Saginaw Valley Walleye fishery in a bad light.
And we wrap it up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. Dave has a great tasting wild turkey recipe.
