An interesting show this weekend on Outdoor Magazine Radio.
First, I talk with the Michigan Conservation Officer who investigated the bear attack in Mackinac County. Kevin Postma says the hunter was forced to shoot the sow and describes how the situation unfolded. By the way, hunter Jeff Starks will join me on next weekend’s show to describe the attack first hand.
Next, Tim Hart of Q1 Buck Pole kicks off this year’s contest. Tim talks about how the contest is run, details on entering and discusses prizes available to hunters.
The hour wraps up with Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews. Tom recaps the big outdoor weekend in Imlay City and has a preview of the next edition of their magazine.
Our second hour features Chuck Keefer of Rack One. Chuck talks about his company’s line of whitetail nutritional products and how hunters can use them to grow bigger bucks. Keefer says Rack One can also be used as an attractant, but unlike some other products, Chuck makes no claims to have “magic in a bag”.
Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs joins me next. This week Tony talks about the Michigan DNR’s unexpected decision to allow ten and eleven year olds to hunt with a gun this fall. He also describes a new group formed to fight the invasion of asian carp in the Great Lakes.
Our final hour kicks off with veteran outdoor writer Steve Griffin. Steve is an avid angler who has discovered the benefits of fishing from a kayak. Steve describes kayak fishing, how to get started and where to go to enjoy the sport.
As always, Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps up the show for us. This time he has a tasty salmon recipe, and Dave also reminds us about the Friends of the NRA dinner coming up next week.
Another fast paced show. I hope you like it.
very informative. Any other tips on more places to go kayaking and/or surfing?
