I kick off this weekend’s Outdoor Magazine Radio show talking about my recent bear hunting trip to White River Ontario with Pete Jones of Superior Bear Outfitters. We had a great hunt with Pete again this year. You can see pictures of our trip here.

On the fourth night of the hunt I took my biggest bear yet, this 334 pound boar with a skull pushing twenty inches.

RJ Meyer of the Trophy Room Taxidermy Studio also joins me with his impressions of the trip. RJ’s was hunting with his daughter and cousin. Here’s a picture of Hannah’s first bear.

You can see more pictures of our Ontario bear hunting adventure here.

Next, Chris Kreiner of The Fisherman’s Digest Website joins me to talk about their new site designed to provide anglers with video tips on catching more fish.

The hour wraps up with Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews. Tom has a preview of the big Outdoor Weekend coming up after Labor Day.

In hour number two Mike Andrews of Scent Lok joins me. Scent Lok is a long time leader in the scent control industry. Mike tells me how hunters can benefit from using his company’s clothes. He also has good news regarding a lawsuit filed over claims of the effectiveness of their products.

Next, I tell the story of my interaction with the game wardens in White River on my bear hunt. I’m a pro law enforcement, pro DNR and pro wildlife conservation guy….but I think the CO’s up there are unnecessarily aggressive. You can hear my my comments about that by clicking the link below.

Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs finishes out the hour. This week, Tony reminds us the new Hunter Heritage Law in Michigan will not take affect until next year. That means for this fall’s hunting season, there is still a minimum hunting age in our state.

One of my favorite guest joins me in the third hour of this week’s show. Richard P. Smith is a noted outdoor writer and expert on hunting whitetails and black bear. Richard has some great advice for first time bear hunters. He also talks about details of the first annual Camera Moose Hunt.

The show wraps up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. Dave has a hearty bear stew recipe for us this time. We also talk about a new feature on the show that will allow listeners to ask Dave questions about wild game cooking and preparation.

A very busy show this week. I hope you enjoy it.
