This weekend we officially kick of summer with a wide range of topics on the show.
First, I discuss my involvement in the “Walleye for Warriors” event last weekend on Saginaw Bay. The fishing was only fair, the the event was outstanding. I’m already making plans to be part of next year’s outing.
Then Chris Keefer of Rack 1 whitetail attractant joins me. Rack 1 is a new Michigan based company that specializes in growing, and attracting, bigger bucks. There is strong interest in their products, especially now that baiting is now legal in Michigan again.
Tim Chartrand helps me wrap up the hour. I met Tim at that Walleye for Warriors fishing outing. He asked me to help get the word out regarding a nice piece of private land he has available near Lansing. Tim and his buddies have built a hunting shack there that’s designed to accomodate handicapped hunters and they’re inviting veterans to hunt there free.

The second hour features outdoor writer Kenny Darwin. Darwin has been reporting on Michigan’s hunting and fishing for a quarter century and doesn’t hold back on his thoughts. Kenny says walleye in Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay are threatened by commercial fisherman and he wants to see the practice of netting stopped.
Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs is next. Tony has an update on legislation that will allow volunteers to help out the Michigan DNR. He also responds to my question about why feral pigs are bad for native habitat and wildlife.
The final hour kicks off with Jim Felgenauer. Jim is an avid sturgeon fisherman who is trying to bring attention to his sport. Jim and his buddies fish for the giant prehistoric sturgeon in the St. Clair river with hook and line. You can learn more about it at St.ClairSturgeon.org.
The show wraps up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. This time Dave has a very nice walleye recipe.
Another busy show. I hope you enjoy it.
