This week’s show kicks off with a young guy from the Grand Rapids area with a real passion for hunting Michigan whitetails. Calvin Beeke, and a group of friends, were frustrated with watching deer hunts from other states where hunters were passing up bucks that would be a trophy to Michigan hunters. As a result, they started a new group called Michigan Whitetail Pursuit. That group is producing a DVD that centers around the history and tradition of deer hunting in the Great Lakes State. I think this is a very refreshing perspective.
In our second hour veteran walleye angler Lance Valentine joins me. Lance is the guy who started the Walleye 101 concept. This time Lance and I talk about fall walleye fishing and how water temperature affects trophy walleye behavior. We also discuss the Saginaw Bay and Lake Erie specifically fisheries specifically.
Next, Tony Hansen of Michigan United Conservation Clubs helps me wrap up the hour. Tony tells me about the latest developments in the move to ban lead sinkers and ammo by the animal rights groups.
The final hour kicks off with Pat McKenna of the Ameristep company. Pat describes the growth in popularity of ground blinds and how his company has designed blinds to appeal to a wide range of hunters. We talk in depth about their new Crossbones crossbow blind.
The show wraps up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar who has another tasty recipe for us.
Another busy show, I hope you enjoy it.
