This week on Outdoor Magazine radio…..
I talk with Donny Carpenter of Captain D’s Charter service in Bay City. Donny is a young guy who knows how to consistently catch walleye…and that’s no easy task this season on Saginaw Bay.
Donny shares some great tips, including the suggestion to fish higher in the water column than usual.
Randy Jorgenson of Woods-n-Waternews helps us wrap up the hour by talking about their big outdoor weekend coming up in early September.
In our second hour I check in with Ted Harpham of Darton Archery. Darton is a great Michigan company that’s been in the archery business for more than half a century. Ted brings us up to speed on the high tech bows and crossbows Darton is making these days.
Next, tournament angler Greg Yarbrough of Starcraft Marine joins me. Greg tells me the walleye fishery on Lake Erie is red hot this season. He also has some advice on how to catch those fish.
Our final hour of this week’s Outdoor Magazine show features noted outdoor writer Richard P. Smith. Richard talks about a number of topics, including his walks with bear and whitetail….and his dislike of the current antler restriction rules for deer hunting in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
As always, we wrap us with wild game chef extraordinaire Dixie Dave Minar. This week the chef has a great walleye recipe.
