We kick off the fall season with lots of talk about deer and deer hunting….with an emphasis on the EHD outbreak in Michigan.

First, Rick Mowery of Bohning Archery joins me to talk about their new line of Siege crossbows and accessories.

Then Craig Owczarzak of Meats and Mooore has some great advice on what to do with the wild game in you freezer from last season.

In the second hour we concentrate on EHD, the disease that’s killing deer in SW Michigan by the thousands. Here’s a recent map of infected areas, but the numbers are certainly higher now.

First, I talk with avid deer hunter Josh VanHoose. Josh found 39 dead deer on one pound last week and is coordinating the effort to document as many EHD killed deer as possible.

Next, Brent Rudolph of the Michigan DNR. Brent is the guy in charge of monitoring and managing the Michigan deer herd. He has some thoughts on the EHD outbreak and answers many questions about the impact.

In our final hour we switch gears just a little bit and talk with Bill Hahn of Jay’s Sporting Goods
. Bill has great advice on what to look for in a trail camera.

As always the show wraps up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave has one of my favorite venison recipes.

Lots of great information in this show. I hope you like it.
