I start out this week talking about the walleye fishery in the Saginaw Valley and how lucky anglers are this year to have open water on the rivers. The conversation also veers into what’s left on my “wish list”…it includes elk, moose, caribou and a Michigan bear.

Next Blaine Bailer of Jay’s Sporting Goods joins me to talk about late season coyote hunting. According to the veteran predator hunter, this is a good time to be hunting because of the mating season and the animals tend to be more active.

Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews wraps up the hour talking about the most current edition of his magazine.

Michigan’s “Mr. U.P.”, Dan Donarski joins me next. Dan is a respected outdoor writer and avid outdoorsman with strong opinions on many outdoor related issues and topics. He also talks about the affect the mild winter has had on hunting and fishing in the north country. By the way if you’re looking for a great African hunting adventure, Dan’s Hunters Horn Adventures company is a great resource for a safari.

Next, I talk about my interest in the “old sayings”, those bits of outdoor wisdom handed down through the generations. They include such well known statements as “red sky at night sailors delight, red sky in morning sailors take warning” and lesser known lines like “it won’t freeze up till the ponds are full”. I’m collecting those bits of outdoor history and would love to add that collection with your help. You can see what I’ve got so far in this blog post from 2009.

The final hour features outdoor writer and fishing guide Dave Rose. Dave’s Wildfishing Guide Service concentrates on northern Michigan lakes and rivers. This time he talks about fishing last ice.

We wrap it all up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. Dave has a rundown of the various wild game dinners he’ll be catering the next several weeks.

Another busy show, I hope you enjoy it.
