In the first segment of this week’s show, a recap of my turkey season. I also draw the winner of this month’s Ameristep Carnivore blind.

You can enter the June contest here.

Next, Ted Harpham of Michigan’s Darton Archery joins me to talk about crossbows and why they’re a great choice as a family bow. We also look forward to our bear hunt next month in Quebec with Northern Outfitters.

The hour wraps up with Bob Guenhardt of Tight Lines for Troops
. “Tight Lines” is a wonderful event next weekend in Manistee, MI to honor veterans by taking them fishing.

The second hour features Dave Mull of Great Lakes Angler Magazine. Dave and I talk about a number of topics, including the evolution of Great Lakes fishing boats, the real threat of Asian Carp and the future of the fishery.

Tony Hansen of MUCC is up next. Tony has a heads up on proposed legislation that could limit access to the Great Lakes. He also talks briefly about their summer camp designed to get kids involved in the outdoors.

The segment wraps up with Jon Gray of the Novi Chapter of Safari Clubs International. Jon has info on a scholarship program to help cover the cost of that MUCC summer camp.

One of my favorite guests joins me for the third hour. Richard P. Smith is a noted outdoor writer and hunting expert. He has great advice on applying for a Michigan bear tag. The deadline for that is the end of the month. Richard also talks about bear numbers across the state and how that has affected the number of bear tags that will be issued. By the way, you can see an excerpt of Richard’s DVD, Walking with Whitetails on You Tube.

The show wraps up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week the chef features a tasty fish recipe.

Another busy and informational show. I hope you like it.
