We’re wrapping up the month of June this week on Outdoor Magazine radio.

First, Glen Duncan of Duncan’s Outdoor Shop in Bay City talks about getting back to business after closing their doors because of Covid. Glen says business is good, but he’s selling a lot of home protection and personal carry guns.

Then, Dr. Kelly Wirsing joins me. Kelly is a surgeon who specializes in breast cancer. She was the high bidder in an online auction to fish with me and raise funds to fight the disease. We talk about our great day on the water.

We’re talking more fishing to start out the second hour this week with Charter Captain and fishing educator Lance Valentine of Walleye 101 . Lance describes his season so far, and the late start due to the state’s lockdown. Now, Lance is ready to go. We talk about calibrating your trolling reels, matching your baits to the size of the forage and why fishing is “weird” this year.

Ted Harpham of Darton Archery is up next. We discuss the state of the archery industry today and why many companies have priced themselves out of the market.

The hour wraps up with the “Ask Avery” segment. This time I respond to criticism about keeping a few Saginaw Bay walleye for the freezer.

Michigan’s “Mr. Walleye”, Mark Martin is featured in the final hour this week. Mark is up in the U.P. and enjoying some solitude and great fishing. He’s also getting ready for an upcoming Fishing Vacation School on Saginaw Bay.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dave Minar. This time, Dave has a stuffed walleye recipe.

I hope you like the show.
