We start out talking about a recent day spent fishing walleye on the Saginaw River. It’s not often you can fish open water in mid March and hundreds of anglers are taking advantage of the opportunity.

Then, Kurt Akin of Akin Outfitters joins me to talk about his hunting and fishing operations across North America. Kurt guides for elk in New Mexico, whitetails in Iowa, salmon in Alaska and steelhead back home in Michigan.

The hour wraps up with Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews. That magazine has the title of Michigan’s Premier Outdoor Publication, and for good reason. Tom talks about their latest edition.

In the second hour I give the details about an award presented to me by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. I’ll also talk about an email I received telling me I’m “going to hell” for killing animals.

Next, Mark Romanack of Fishing 411 Television joins me to talk about his efforts to go ice fishing for perch in Michigan’s upper peninsula. That trip was cut short by unseasonably warm weather and bad ice.

The hour wraps up with newest member of the Outdoor Magazine radio team…Tony Hansen of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. We talk about wolves in Michigan, the anti hunters efforts to protect those animals and river fishing for walleye.

Our final hour wraps up with Derrick Poet of Jay’s Sporting Goods. Derrick is an expert turkey hunter who has lots of tips on getting ready for the upcoming season.

The show wraps up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. Dave doesn’t have a recipe this week, instead he talks about some fundraising dinners coming up in the next couple of weeks.

As always, a busy show, and I hope you enjoy it.
