We wrap up the summer season with a wide range of guests and topics this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.

First, I tell the story of my Ontario bear hunting trip.  I didn’t take an animal but had a great time at Northern Wilderness Bear Outfitters in White River.

Then, Ted Harpham of Darton Archery joins me to announce the winner of our latest contest.  Congrats to Nate Dishong of Alma Michigan for winning a DS 700 compound bow.

Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews wraps up the hour with a preview of their big Outdoor Weekend.

Veteran Great Lakes Angler and fishing industry insider Dave Mull is up next with a look at the status of our Great Lakes Fishery.   He also talks about the growth of kayak fishing in Michigan.

Katie Keen of the Michigan dnr is up next.  Katie talks about a new program to promote several key grouse hunting areas in the state.

The Michigan Friends of NRA is the final topic of the hour as I talk with Al Herman.  Al says September is a busy month for his fundraising banquets and he encourages shooters to get involved in the program.

Biologist Brian Mastenbrook of the Michigan dnr kicks off the final hour of this week’s show.  Brian has worked with the Michigan elk herd for more than twenty years and has some interesting observations about those beautiful animals and how hunting is the best method of keep their numbers under control.

We wrap it all up with chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This week Dave discusses a very unusual wild game dinner he catered for a select group in Lansing.

It’s a good show to wrap up the summer season and get us heading into fall.  I hope you like it.
