We get ready for the Michigan archery season on this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show and podcast.
First, author Jerry Lambert joins me to talk about his new book The Hunting Spirit. I enjoyed this book’s combination of practical advice, entertaining stories and inspirational tone. You can learn more about the Michigan author on his website JerryLambertOutdoors.com.
Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me to talk about their first annual Outdoor Weekend West in Kalamazoo. Tom says the crowds were a little light but he has high hopes for next year’s event. We also discuss the latest edition of their magazine.
Hour number two features musky angler Don Barnard. Don says fall is the best time of year to catch a trophy fish and he has some great advice.
Tony Hansen of MUCC is up next. Rather than talk about an outdoor related topic this week, Tony announced his departure from the Michigan United Conservation Clubs to pursue other outdoor related ventures. I think Tony has done a great job in that position and his efforts have benefited the hunters and anglers of Michigan.
In the final hour I talk with Craig Owczarak of Meats and Mooore. in Bay City. Craig is a veteran butcher who processes my wild game. He has some tips to get the most from your deer this season.
Next, RJ Meyer of the Trophy Room Taxidermy Studio joins me to talk about preserving your whitetail trophy. RJ says an animal doesn’t have to a big buck to be worthy of mounting. He says all deer can be special and have a great story worthy of preserving.
We wrap it all up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave and I talk about his Michigan bear hunting adventures. We’ll save the recipe for next week.
Another good show filled with great guests and information. I hope you like it.
