Giant lake sturgeon are the opening topic of this week’s show as I talk with the “Sturgeon General”, Brenda Archambo.  Brenda was one of the founding members of the Black Lake Chapter of Sturgeon for Tomorrow.  This time Brenda talks about the spawning run currently underway in northern Michigan.

Katie Keen of the Michigan dnr is up next.  Katie reminds us that May is the month to apply for bear and elk tags.  She also puts in a plug for the Pure Michigan Hunt.

Hour number two kicks off with charter captain Paul Schlafley of Riverside Charters in Manistee.  Paul talks about the early season fishing action so far and has details of a giveaway in con unction with the folks at the Forward Corporation.

Ed Eisch of the Michigan DNR wraps up the hour talking about the state’s fish hatchery system and the fish stocking program underway right now.

Bass fishing is the topic in hour number three as I talk with fishing guide Jerry Gostenik (GreatLakesBassFishing).  Jerry says Michigan is one of the top states in the county for smallmouth action….and he says Lake St. Clair is the best water in Michigan for smallies.

We wrap up this week’s Outdoor Magazine radio show with Chef Dixie Dave Minar.  This time Dave has a  very nice turkey recipe.
