I kick off this week’s show talking about my recent deer hunt in Michigan UP. I didn’t get a deer, but had a great hunt anyway with Gary Morgan and East Lake Outfitters.
Next, Gary joins me to talk about his operation and modern day deer hunting in the Upper Peninsula.
The hour wraps up with Tim Hart of the Q1 Buckpole. as Tim describes his modern day online big buck contest.
Hour number two features “Michigan’s Weatherman” Mark Torregrossa. Mark is a veteran meteorologist with a unique sense of how the weather affects hunters and anglers. Mark’s website is FarmerWeather.com.
I had Tom Schneider of Heater Body Suit scheduled to wrap up the hour, but he was busy tracking a deer ( a good excuse to miss a radio interview). Instead, I talked with one of Tom’s buddies in the shop. We had phone line problems and had to cut that conversation short. I can tell you after using the Heater Body Suit in some very brutal conditions, it really works.
The third hour features Glenn Duncan of Duncans Outdoor Shop in Bay City, MI. Glenn talks about maintaining your deer gun and how to store it for the off season. We also talk about muzzleloaders and choosing the right gun.
The show wraps up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave has another tasty venison recipe.
Another busy show filled with great information. I hope you like it.
Hey Mike, I just discovered pod-casts and just wanted to tell you how much i like the shows. I live in Colorado now but was born and raised in Gaylord. Some of my best memories are hunting and fishing with my Dad and Brother around our property and other places in the U.P.
I had both my knees replaced recently and have been getting cabin fever pretty bad andf your podcasts help alot with that. Anyway, just wanted to say Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks Mike for the nice comments. I’m glad the podcasts can help you remember good times here in Michigan. I hope those knees heal up fast. Thanks again.
