We’re wrapping up the month with some great guests and interesting topics.

First, Michigan DNR wildlife biologist Brian Mastenbrook talks about the Michigan elk herd and the upcoming hunts. He tells the story of how elk were reintroduced to the state and why hunting is used to manage that herd.

We’re getting ready for bow season in the second hour this week as Paul Penix of Jay’s Sporting Goods joins me. Paul says the archery department at Jay’s has been extremely busy the past week weeks. He says archers are looking for new gear, and to get their current bows tuned up for the season.

Nick Buggia from the Michigan Wildlife Council wraps up the hour. Nick has been training a new bird dog and is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Fishing is the topic in the final hour this week as Lance Valentine of Walleye 101 joins me. Lance talks about running a couple of salmon charters on Lake Michigan. Then, he’ll head over to Saginaw Bay and run some perch charters. Valentine has some great tips on how to catch perch these days.

We wrap it all up with Chef Dave Minar and a very nice walleye recipe.

I hope you like the show.
