It’s a fast paced show this week on Outdoor Magazine.
First, John Cryderman of the Michigan Bear Hunters Association joins me to talk about hunting coyotes using dogs. John also describes the threat wolves pose to their UP hunting dogs.
Then Dr. Annette Rummel from Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region describes how that area is changing from a heavy industrial area to a family travel destination focused on natural resources including hunting and fishing.
Hour number two kicks off with John Caretti, President of the Michigan Trappers and Predator Callers Association. John says trapping is enjoying a resurgence and fur prices are the highest in years.
Up next, Kim Harvey of Wolverine Bank with some great financial advice for folks who love the outdoors (and everybody else as well).
The hour wraps up with Erin McDonough of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. Erin discusses proposals by the governor to raise some hunting and fishing fees. She also talks briefly about the petition by anti hunters to stop a Michigan wolf hunt.
The topic of dog training kicks off the final hour as I talk with Jim Trotter. Trotter says today’s electronic training aids can speed up the process and help keep your hunting dogs safer in the field. By the way, Jim will be at the Outdoorama show next week in Novi.
And finally, Chef Dixie Dave Minar wraps it all up with a great squirrel recipe.
Another busy show filled with lots of great outdoor information. I hope you like. it.
