We’re talking about a wide range of topics this week on Outdoor Magazine Radio.
First, bear hunter Vance Gawel describes a trip to the UP when wolves killed and ate one of his dogs, then turned their attention to him.
Hour two kicks off with Jason Blitchok of the Michigan Darkouse Anglers Association (Mi-Darkhouse.org). Jason says the new South East Michigan chapter of that group wants to promote the thrill of pike spearing in the southern part of the state.
Jake Putala is up next. Jake is a high school student recently named to the DNR’s Youth Conservation Council. He has some interesting ideas on what’s needed to keep young people involved in the outdoors.
Paul Cianciolo of Predator Hunter Outdoors is featured in hour three of the show. Paul talks about hunting predators after dark with centerfire rifles and how his company’s line up of high power lights can help hunters be more successful.
We wrap it up with Chef Dixie Dave Minar. This time Dave doesn’t have a recipe though, the Chef talk about his recent elk hunting adventure in Michigan’s Pigeon River Forest Area.
Lots of great guests and information this week. I hope you like the show.
Mike this does not concern this weekends show -it concerns the DNR office in St. Charles. Connie- the gal who was the only office staff retired last year. Now the office is unstaffed. A person has been hired to replace her, but that person is working at the bay city DNR office. Field staff is now required to man the office at greatly reduced hours! These are the people who maintain the pumps, dikes and the water levels. these people sometimes are in the middle of something and don’t make it to the office. So now the office sometimes is just plain unstaffed. I don’t know if you could influence the DNR to place somebody at this office but everybody who hunts and fishes the Shiawassee Flats would appreciate somebody there!
