We wrap up the month of April talking turkeys and fishing.
First, I tell the story of my successful Michigan turkey hunt.
Then former fishing guide Tim Roller talks about springtime trout fishing in northern Michigan. We also discuss his University of Whitetail project designed to educate Michigan deer hunters.
Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me next. Tom has an update on his turkey season and talks about their push to expand their Facebook page (facebook.com/WoodsnWaternews).
Hour number two features flyfishing guide Mike Schultz of Schultz Outfitters. While many flyfishermen will be chasing trout this opening weekend, Mike and his crew plan to target smallmouth on southeast Michigan streams.
Paul Kollmeyer of the Michigan dnr is up next to talk about the springtime wildfire season and how they can be prevented.
Michigan’s “Mr. Walleye”, Mark Martin is the focus of hour number three. Mark talks to us from the Detroit River where he’s pre fishing for a tournament. During the conversation the veteran angler catches a couple of nice fish and has some great advice on how to catch more walleye.
We wrap it all up with wild game chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave has our traditional springtime recipe of Turkey with morel mushrooms and fiddlehead ferns.

Thanks Dylan. Hunters safety is a topic we discuss on the show quite often. Did you low you can hunt two years on an apprentice license without taking those classes?
