We kick off the month of March with a fast paced Outdoor Magazine radio show.
First, I talk with Blaine Bailer of Jays Sporting Goods. Blaine is a veteran coyote hunter and has great advice on late season predator hunting.
Then Tom Campbell of Woods-n-Waternews joins me. Tom says they’re scrambling this year to add some late season ice fishing stories to their April Edition (available in mid March). Tom says usually they’ve moved on to open water fishing topics by that time of year.
Hour number two features Dale McNamee of the Upper Peninsula Sportsmens Alliance. Dale says his group is the voice of UP hunters and anglers and we discuss some of the items the group is concerned about.
Then, Katie Keen of the Michigan dnr joins me to talk about the new hunting and fishing license package. Those new licenses will be required by April 1st.
In the third hour we head outside the great state of Michigan as I talk with charter captain Mike Orr of Five Orrs Charters. Mike fishes southern Lake Michigan for early season trout and salmon. Usually his trolling boat is in the water by now but Mike says it’ll be several weeks this year before the ice moves out.
Then we head to northern Quebec as I talk with Pierre Smarlack of Northern Outfitters. Pierre runs a first rate hunting and fishing operation near the town of Val-d’or and he has info on his hunting and fishing packages.
We wrap up this week’s show, once again, with chef Dixie Dave Minar. This week Dave has a tasty walleye recipe.
It’s another fast paces show filled with great guests and information. I hope you like it.
Just saw your interview with Fred Bear! I have a Bear recurve bow that looks just like the one Fred used in the interview. It belonged to my father, I’m trying to find out what it might be worth! Any info would be appreciated!
I know there are lots of folks who collect Fred Bear gear and equipment….though I don’t know any of them personally. I suggest an internet search Robert. Be sure to get a couple of quotes if you decide to sell it though.
